Jenny Cruz joined the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) in 2015 as a business certification specialist and was promoted her current position in the Office of the Director as special assistant to the director in 2017. In this capacity, Ms. Cruz supports DSLBD’s director to fulfill the mission of the agency by managing government and external relationships, setting the overall direction and providing strategic guidance to facilitate the advancement of the director’s organizational philosophy and goals.

As a business certification specialist at DSLBD, Ms. Cruz worked with the CBE Certification team to review and process the program’s Self-Recertification, Recertification and Upgrade applications while also ensuring continued eligibility for the Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) Program.

Prior to joining DSLBD, Ms. Cruz worked in the banking industry for eight years where she served in a number of roles, including client service representative, relationship manager and financial center operations manager.

She is currently attending Trinity Washington University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. She’s a native Washingtonian and currently lives in Ward 6.
