(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) are inviting residents to celebrate Women’s History Month at fun, free events happening across the District throughout the month of March.
“Whether I’m at a ribbon-cutting for a recreation center or a groundbreaking for new housing, everywhere I go, I meet women and girls who are creating new opportunities for Washingtonians and moving our city forward,” said Mayor Bowser. “So, check out our upcoming events, and we hope you’ll come out and celebrate the women and girls who keep Washington, DC the best city in the world.”
Since 2015, Mayor Bowser has championed programs and policies that uplift and keep DC affordable for more women and families, from eliminating the “pink tax” on feminine hygiene products to creating the Keep Child Care Affordable Tax Credit in 2018 and investing more than a billion dollars in the Housing Production Trust Fund.
“We understand sustainability to encompass the environment, education, economics, community resilience and civic engagement,” said Natasha Dupee, Director of the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives. “Women’s History Month is one of many times throughout the year to promote growth for women and girls across the District.”
