The New Act makes significant changes to the Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Act of 2005,  D.C. Law 16-33 (“Previous Law”). The changes in the New Act affect all agencies, departments, and instrumentalities of the District government, in addition to Certified Business Enterprises (“CBE”) and private projects that receive certain District subsidies  or benefits.

DSLBD Celebrates 200 Entrepreneurs Trained Through FastTrac DC Program

DSLBD Partners With the DC Central Kitchen to Fight Food Deserts

(Washington, DC) –The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is pleased to announce a $250,000 grant to DC Central Kitchen. The grant, which is part of DSLBD’s Healthy Food Retail Program, will almost double the reach of DC Central Kitchen’s Healthy Corners program from 33 to 63 participating stores.

DSLBD Launches 2014 Trade Calendar for Small Businesses at International Forum

DSLBD Announces New “CBE Online” Services

(Washington, DC) – The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) has recently launched its new Certified Business Enterprise (“CBE”) Online application system designed to simplify and quicken the application process for CBE certification. Businesses will now be able to submit all required information in the online system without visiting the office. For both returning and new applicants, this enhancement translates to a more streamlined approach to the certification process.

Mayor Gray and District Officials Announce Rhode Island Avenue as the Newest DC Main Streets Corridor

Mayor Vincent C. Gray, Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie and Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) Director Robert Summers today announced the designation of Rhode Island Avenue NE as the newest DC Main Streets corridor. Rhode Island Avenue Main Street will join seven other DC Main Streets programs that have been accredited through DC Main Streets and the National Main Street Center, Inc.
