Veteran's Small Business Week

The Small Business Administration declares Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 4, 2022, as National Veteran’s Small Business Week – which is a time to celebrate, honor, and empower our nation’s most resilient and dedicated entrepreneurs.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau 2019 Annual Business Survey (ABS), Veteran-owned businesses:

  • Makeup about 5.9% of all U.S. businesses, with an estimated $947 billion in receipts

  • Collaboratively hire 3.9 million employees

  • Gross about $177 billion in annual payroll

Established in 2013, National Veteran’s Small Business Week (NVSBW) is a time also to recognize and amplify the opportunities and resources available to Veteran-owned businesses.

Resources:

  • DSLBD Veteran-owned Certification

Certification as a Local Business Enterprise (LBE) is a prerequisite to be certified in any additional business enterprise category within the CBE Program. In the CBE Program, once a business meets all LBE requirements, the business can request the Small Business Enterprise (SBE),  Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE),  Resident-owned Business Enterprise (ROB),  business enterprise located within a Development Enterprise Zone (DZE),  Longtime Resident Business Enterprise (LRB),  Veteran-owned Business Enterprise (VOB) or the Local Manufacturing Business Enterprise (LME) designation(s) for consideration to receive additional preference points or percentages.

Visit dslbd.dc.gov to learn more about obtaining your Veteran-owned certification through our local Certified Business Enterprise program. Businesses with CBE certification receive preferred procurement and contracting opportunities.
