Mayor Vincent C. Gray, DSLBD, and Federal Partners Launch HUBDC

National pilot partnership will increase opportunities for small businesses.

What and who: Mayor Vincent C. Gray; Department of Small and Local Business Development Director Harold Pettigrew; US Small Business Administration (SBA) Deputy Administrator Marie Johns; US Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Management Dan Tangherlini; US Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Management Chris Cummiskey; DC Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Barbara Lang; and, Virtual Enterprise Architects, LLC President and CEO LaKeshia Grant will discuss a local-federal partnership to increase opportunities for DC small businesses.

Background: Mayor Gray outlined his New Economy strategy in his State of the District Address. HUBDC is a local-federal partnership that supports the diversified and resilient businesses envisioned by the Mayor, and demonstrates his strategy. Through this national pilot, the District will partner with the federal government to maximize small business participation in the SBA's Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program.
