The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is excited to announce this Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for its Equity Impact Enterprise Grants and that DSLBD will be accepting grant applications from eligible resident-owned small and economically disadvantaged certified business enterprises (CBEs) closing April 22, 2022.
Under the Small and Certified Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Act of 2005, as amended, D.C. Official Code §2-218.01 (the “CBE Act”), DSLBD intends to award up to $5,000 per grant from the total of $1,500,000 in available funding for the Fiscal Year 2022 to CBEs with the sub-designation of Equity Impact Enterprise (EIE), as defined in the CBE Act, for expenses that support the resiliency of those businesses. Award amounts will be determined based on the total number of eligible applicants. Final Deadline The final deadline to apply online is April 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with no exceptions.
Who can apply?
Only CBEs with or who have obtained the EIE designation by April 22, 2022, as verified by DSLBD, and still maintain the designation by May 15, 2022, can apply for this grant.
What is an EIE?
On August 31, 2020, the Equity Impact Enterprise Establishment Amendment Act of 2020 (D.C. Law 23-0149) created a new Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) certification subcategory, Equity Impact Enterprise (EIE).To learn more about Equity Impact Enterprises, click here.
Applications will only be accepted through the online application system listed in the Request for Applications (RFA) currently available on DSLBD’s website.
DSLBD will hold virtual information sessions concerning the application process and the grant awards. The dates and times of information sessions can be found on DSLBD’s Eventbrite page using the following link: http://bit.ly/DSLBDeventbrite. Applicants are highly encouraged to attend an information session. All other questions not asked during the information sessions must be submitted in writing to DSLBD at [email protected].
